Bring large notes ($100/€100/£50) — they get better rates. The best exchange counters in the country are SuperRich on Level B at Suvarnabhumi airport. Every foreign-card ATM withdrawal adds a 220 THB fee, so pull 10,000–20,000 at a time. In town, SuperRich and TT Exchange at the malls beat hotel rates every day of the week.

🛂 Entry, sorted

The TDAC arrival card is free — do it in the 72 hours before you fly, only on the official site. Carry 20,000 THB per person in real cash for immigration spot checks, keep your passport valid 6+ months, and have your first hotel booking ready to show. Five minutes of prep, zero kiosk sweat.

🏍️ Roads & cover

Thailand's roads claim ~50 lives a day — most on scooters. If you're renting one, wear the helmet, skip the beers, and get proper travel insurance (~180–360 THB/day). Thai private hospitals are superb but bill in cash up front. The insurance step in the estimator is the cheapest peace of mind you'll ever buy.
